How to Change Your Password in cPanel?

Introduction

cPanel offers a user-friendly interface that offers you to change your passwords easily. This article will guide you through the detailed step-by-step process of changing your password in cPanel.

Steps to Change Your Password in cPanel

➔ Log in to your cPanel account.

Method 1 – Go to the ‘Preferences’ section after logging in.

➔ In that section, click on the ‘Password & Security’ option.

Method 2 – You can also go to this section by clicking on your username in the upper right corner of the screen.

After clicking, select ‘Password & Security.’

➔ After that, you will see a new page with 3 textboxes opened. 

  • In the ‘Old Password‘ text box, enter your current password. 
  • Now, you have to type the new password that you want to use in the ‘New Password’ text box.
  • Type the new password in the ‘New Password (Again)’ text box.

In the strength bar, you will see the relative strength of the password you entered.

We recommend using cPanel’s ‘Password Generator’ option. This will generate a random, strong password for you.

➔ You may also use ‘Advanced Options’ to comply with any organizational password standards, such as minimum password length, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.

➔ You have to copy the password into a safe place. You need to check the box ‘I have copied this password in a safe place.’

➔ Click on the ‘Use Password’ button.

You will see some password-related cautions and suggestions at the bottom of the interface.

➔ Click ‘Change your password now!’ when you are ready, and your new password will be updated.

Please note that this will log you out of cPanel, and you will need to log in again with your cPanel credentials.
