cPanel account migration is a very common problem. Hoping from one server to another is easy, and since it is automated, we are used to doing it. Email accounts are also automatically transferred, but restoring your emails can be tricky. Using the cPanel backup wizard to restore can be tricky, but there also are some other ways to do the job. Those are: <\/span><\/p>\n

1. Backing up emails via File Manager<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Step I<\/strong>: Sign in to your cPanel account.<\/span><\/p>\n

open the \u2018File Manager\u2019 option under \u2018Files\u2019 tab.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step II: <\/strong>Click on your account’s home directory, navigate to \u2018Mail\u2019 folder and select it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step III: <\/strong>Right-click on the \u2018Mail\u2019 option, look for the \u2018Compress\u2019 option, and select it.  There are various types of compression extensions like .zip<\/em>, .tar<\/em>, .tar.gz<\/em>, .tar.bz2<\/em>.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Step IV: <\/strong>Choose one of the compression techniques as per your requirement. <\/span><\/p>\n

Step V: <\/strong>Leave the name as it is and click on the \u2018Compress File(s)\u2019 button. <\/span><\/p>\n

Step VI: <\/strong>The compressed file is stored on your hosting account server. Right-click on the compressed file and download it.  <\/span><\/p>\n

You have successfully backed up and downloaded your emails.  <\/span><\/p>\n

2. Backing up using the Export Feature<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

While the File manager generated backup is useful for restoring emails on another server,  you\u2019ll have to take a backup of emails from cPanel via the Export feature if you wish to access those emails on your local system.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Export feature we are going to use saves the emails in the standard MBOX format that makes the emails easily readable on your machine because popular email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird support the format.  To take a backup through the Export feature: <\/span><\/p>\n

Step I: <\/strong>Login to your cPanel account. Click on \u2018Email Accounts\u2019 option under \u2018Emails\u2019 tab. <\/span><\/p>\n

Step II: <\/strong>You\u2019ll find all the emails linked to your cPanel account on this page. You\u2019ll also find three buttons, namely, \u2018Check Email,\u2019 \u2018Manage,\u2019 and \u2018Connect Devices\u2019, corresponding to each email.  <\/span><\/p>\n

Click on the \u2018Check Email\u2019 button in front of the email address you wish to backup.  You can also take backups of the other email accounts if you have more than one linked to your cPanel. <\/span><\/p>\n

Step III: <\/strong>Now click on \u2018Horde\u2019 and click the \u2018Open\u2019 button. The Webmail interface will open for you to view emails. <\/span><\/p>\n

Step IV: <\/strong>Now, right-click on the mailboxes and choose the \u2018Export\u2019 option, do this one mailbox at a time. <\/span><\/p>\n

Step V: <\/strong>Click on the \u2018OK\u2019 button to download the email backup.  <\/span><\/p>\n
